Children’s Photography
Natural, personality-filled portraits that capture your child exactly as they are right now
Children change so quickly: one minute they’re tiny, the next they’ve grown out of a favourite jumper, mastered a new expression, or developed a whole new little personality.
My children’s photography sessions are designed to capture this stage as it truly is.
We’ll create a mix of gently guided portraits and more relaxed moments, so you get both the classic images you’ll want framed on the wall, as well as the little in-between expressions that feel so authentically them.
Sessions can take place in my studio in Dartford for clean, timeless portraits, or outdoors if you’d prefer a more natural, playful feel.
What I Offer
My children’s sessions are calm, fun, and tailored to your child. No forced smiles, no pressure, and no expectation that they’ll “perform” for the camera.
Here’s what you can expect:
A relaxed, child-led approach
I’ll guide where needed, but I also allow space for your child to settle in and be themselves. Some children bounce straight in, others take a little time, and both are completely normal.
Studio or on-location options
My studio in Dartford is perfect for timeless, distraction-free portraits. If you’d rather capture your child outdoors, we can plan a location that suits their age and energy levels.
A mix of classic portraits and natural moments
We’ll capture lovely, frame-worthy portraits, along with natural expressions, laughter, and all those little details that make them who they are right now.
Styling guidance
I’ll help you choose outfits and colours that photograph beautifully, whether you’re keeping things simple and classic or want something a little more creative.
The Children’s Photography Experience
Before Your Session
Once you book, I’ll send over simple guidance on what to wear, how to prepare your child, and what to expect on the day.
If we’re shooting outdoors, we’ll also plan the best time of day for light (and for little ones’ moods and routines).
During Your Session
Children’s sessions are relaxed and gently guided. I’ll start with a few simple portraits, then we’ll move into a more natural flow with prompts that encourage real expressions and interaction.
If your child is shy, wriggly, full of beans, or not in the mood at first, that’s absolutely fine. I work patiently and calmly, and I’m very used to letting children warm up in their own time.
After Your Session
Within around two weeks, you’ll receive a lovingly edited private gallery to view and choose your favourite images.
Your final images are delivered in high-resolution digital format, ready for printing, sharing, and framing. You can also choose to purchase prints directly.

Children’s Photography FAQ
What ages are best for children’s sessions?
Any age at all. From confident toddlers to quieter older children, I’ll tailor the session to suit their personality and stage.
What if my child won’t smile or sit still?
That’s completely normal. I don’t rely on stiff posing or perfect behaviour. I use gentle prompts and a relaxed approach that allows real expressions to come through.
What should my child wear?
I’ll send guidance when you book, but neutral tones and soft, coordinated colours photograph beautifully. It’s best to avoid large logos and very busy patterns.
Where does the session take place?
You can choose my studio in Dartford, Kent, or an outdoor location. If you’re not sure what’s best, I can recommend options based on the look you want.
How long does the session take?
Usually around 1 hour in the studio, and around 1–1.5 hours on location, depending on your child’s age, how quickly they settle, and your chosen package.
Can siblings be included?
Yes, absolutely. If you’d like sibling portraits as well, just let me know when you enquire so I can plan time for a lovely mix.
